Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician

Environmental Analyst I
Maryland Department of Transportation - Baltimore, MD
This is entry level professional environmental work in the environmental sciences preparing environmental studies, specialized technical analysis such as air quality, land use, wetland permit applications and assisting in preparing wetland mitigation and stream restoration plans, specifications and costs estimates.  Duties include, but are not limited to: Attends public meetings/hearings and conferences to explain the environmental impact of projects and/or programs; initiates coordination with federal and state agencies to obtain information regarding environmental resources and to assess impacts; coordinates with in-house project managers and engineers regarding project scope, schedules and design changes; and reviews engineering plans to determine project scope, design changes, environmental impacts and potential avoidance/minimization/mitigation strategies.

Vertebrate Paleontologist
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis
The Vertebrate Paleontologist serves as primary researcher, preparator, educational contact and public representative for The Children's Museum of Indianapolis' dinosaur collection and for "Dinosphere," a 16,000 square-foot immersive and interactive exhibit space for children and families.  The Paleontologist works closely with the international Dinosphere advisory team to prepare, review, implement, and monitor research plans and publications on museum specimens. The position requires working collaboratively as part of a Dinosphere team of interpretive staff, lab staff, volunteers and various museum departments to produce extraordinary experiences for families and visitors.  The Paleontologist creates a strong maintenance and use plan for Dinosphere collection pieces in the lab, in the Dinosphere gallery and in the collection storage areas.  The incumbent serves as an educational resource for other areas, such as our website; and dedicates time to serve as a resource during operation hours of the Dinosphere gallery.
