Postion: Assistant Geologist
Responsibilities include environmental site assessments, development of
soil and groundwater sampling plans, data analysis, site remediation,
proposal and report writing, project management as well as client
maintenance. Other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Geology. Entry-level position (zero to
two years of professional experience). Excellent written & verbal
communication skills. Proficient computer skills. OSHA trained and
knowledge of CERCLA, and remedial design is preferred. Previous consulting
experience, including hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase
I, Phase II, and remediation also preferred. Locations: St. Louis, MO;

Entry Level Geologist-Germantown, Maryland-

· Plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measures in
natural systems. Standard field practices and techniques using basic field
equipment to collect samples of soil, groundwater, surface water,
sediment, and potable water; prepare samples for shipping, and complete
chain-of-custody or similar paperwork.
· Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment
· Performs supervised field tasks, such as soil logging, monitoring
well installation, sampling, testing, water level/groundwater gradient
surveys, etc.
· Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for
routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines
Minimum requirements
· Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g.,
environmental science, soil science, agriculture, geology or any
scientific related field)
· Knowledge of environmental data collection, identification,
investigation, and data entry
· Technically proficient individual with the ability to organize
data in a clear fashion using basic tools (spreadsheets, graphs) and the
desire to learn and apply new tools, models, and methods
· Must be able to oversee and work productively with subcontractors
while assuring work scopes and safety requirements are met
· Must be able to work outdoors year-round
· Travel will be required, including out-of-state short-term
overnight stays

· Four-year degree in Geography/GIS and/or 2 years of work related
experience. Experience with ArcGIS Desktop applications and extensions.
Experience with utilizing geoprocessing tools and the ability to automate
routines utilizing ArcGIS Model Builder. Creating, updating, and
maintaining geographic databases. Knowledge of Enterprise Geodatabases and

East Michigan area. A qualified candidate will be a self-starter with a
high attention to detail. A strong aptitude in mathematics, specifically
trigonometry and geometry. Candidates should be able to, or possess the
aptitude to, become proficient in reading and interpreting construction
plans. They should have the ability to proficiently read maps and possess
a good sense of geography.Candidates will be required to have:

Essential Responsibilities and Knowledge Requirements
· Conduct Phase I ESAs and Phase II ESAs unsupervised. Applicant
should anticipate at least 50% of their time to be spent on Phase I ESAs.
· Assess environmental (chemical and non-chemical) data used in the
preparation of scientific reports.
· Compile and organize environmental data for use by others.
· Plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measurements
in natural systems.
· Apply knowledge of natural sciences (geology, soil
characteristics, chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics)
to explain observations.
· Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geologic Engineering, GeoScience or
similar field.
· Applicant must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
at a minimum.
· 3 to 5 years of experience completing Phase I ESAs and Phase II
ESAs, subsurface investigations, site characterization, subcontractor

Paleontological Field Technician

Description: This is a part-time, as needed Paleontological field
position that involves monitoring of grading and other earthmoving
activities to support development projects in Southern California. The
paleontological monitor will perform fieldwork under the direction and
supervision of the Senior Paleontologist. Duties include construction
monitoring, fossil salvage, laboratory preparation, data collection and
analysis.
· Must have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Geology, or related
field, or be working towards one with at least 3 years of field experience
· Must have prior experience conducting paleontological monitoring
in a variety of settings in Southern California
· Must have the ability to work around large, loud construction
equipment
· Must have the ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in hot
or cold conditions, with minimal assistance;
· Must have the ability to recognize fossils in the ground, use
excavation tools, and salvage resources as necessary
· Must carry appropriate materials and have the ability to "jacket"
fossils
· Must be able to meet the company driving requirements; 25 years of
age, clean driving record, valid drivers license and have a 4x4 or similar
vehicle to drive on construction sites

Paleontological Taxonomist

Description: This is a temporary position involving sorting macroscopic to
microscopic fossils to the species level. Identify, as possible by
counting and tabulating the taxa, and interpreting the paleohabitat based
on the findings.

· Must have 5+ years' working knowledge of Pliocene, Pleistocene,
and living mollusks and habitats of the region
· Must have a good working library of the relevant taxonomic
literature and a knowledge of the methods of taxonomy and nomenclature

and collegial relationships with them (these are important for
consultation on difficult identifications)
· Must have the ability to make quality digital photographs of
microscopic specimens showing the critical taxonomic characters
